“Equine Pathways Australia was honoured and grateful to be selected to be the Balnarring Picnic Racing Club’s “Caring for the Community Program” partner at their race meeting on Sunday 15th January 2023. Many thanks to Brendan Fraser, the President of the Club, and John Archibald from the committee and club secretary Lesley Jones for their assistance in the organisation of the day.
The Balnarring Picnic Race Club kindly donate $1,000 to a charity partner each race day and we really appreciate their support of EPA and giving us the opportunity to introduce EPA to the wider Peninsula Community.
A number of EPA participants, family and friends attended the race day and were involved in the presentation to the winner of the second race on the day.
An interesting twist to the day was Cranbourne trainer, Mick Bell, training two winners on the day. Mick, of course, was the trainer of Jungle Edge, one of the many OTTs in our program. Jungle Edge is proudly supported by the Melbourne Racing Club Foundation.
Di Barnes, one of EPA’s Directors, was particularly interested in attending the day, as she had previously ridden in races at Balnarring in her days as a pioneering jockey in the Victorian racing industry.
To finish the day on a positive financial note for the EPA team, Sammy Gribbin exclusively tipped the last winner. Sammy’s furbaby is called Chilly, and the last winner’s name? Chillydog.”
