Exciting EPA Announcement
News
Following a long hiatus due to COVID-19, the highly successful and popular monthly Equine Pathways Australia (EPA) weekend clinics at Balmoral Equestrian Centre in Victoria have recommenced.  The first clinic for 2021 was held on the 9th & 10th January with the next clinics scheduled on 13th & 14th February, 14th & 15th March, and 11th & 12th April.

Not only have the Victorian clinics recommenced, but EPA are proud and pleased to announce the expansion of our program to now include the commencement of satellite programs in South Australia, New South Wales & Queensland over the coming months.

These interstate programs will commence with our successful two-day weekend clinic in the regular EPA clinic format with each participant working through a series of appointments with our allied health providers and coaches.  Included in these clinics will also be an Equestrian Australia classification at each clinic for people who have not yet been classified for competition, but please note that participants seeking classification must book this component through Equestrian Australia National Office.

There will also be an open Information session on each Saturday evening of the clinics to introduce our programs to interested parties.

The dates of these clinics are:

South Australia            6th & 7th February
New South Wales       27th & 28th February
Queensland                  27th & 28th March

MRC Foundation Race Day
Events

Equine Pathways Australia is very appreciative of the MRC Foundation for including us as one of the 13 charities involved in the Foundation’s Charity race day on 19th September 2020. This was our first year of involvement and we very much hope to be involved again in 2021.

As part of the day, each charity was randomly allocated a horse in the MRC Foundation Cup, with those horses running for prizes for their associated charity of $20,000 for the winner, $10,000 for second and $5,000 for third. Our allocated horse, Think We’re Due, trained by Andrew Noblet at Ballarat, ran very well in third place for most of the race before finishing ninth. Andrew was very kind in sending us photos and videos of Think We’re Due in the lead up to the race. Congratulations to Downs Syndrome Victoria who had the winning horse.

Julia ran a virtual race day picnic on Zoom for EPA, and her hat won our Fashions on the Field.

Many thanks to everyone who bought tickets in the MRC Foundations’ fundraising raffle. We sold 318 of 2000 tickets available which was a great effort by everyone and their networks. The proceeds raised were allocated to us as part of our fundraising activity for the day.

Next year, provided the Covid restrictions are behind us, EPA plans to have a race day function at Caulfield on the day. Details will be provided when available, but keep this weekend in September 2021 free!

Covid Update: Clinics on Hold
News

Unfortunately the Covid crisis has impacted the operation of Equine Pathways Australia as it has done for many other businesses and charities around the world.

Our response to the restrictions has been to postpone the monthly 2-day face to face clinics and instead run fortnightly Zoom sessions for our participants.

Whilst this of course does not provide the same level of engagement for our participants, it does give them the opportunity to meet online, touch base and share their thoughts. Our allied health providers have been very generous with their time and have been keeping participants engaged with activities and discussions to stay connected and motivated during these frustrating times.

It is our hope that we may be able to begin face to face clinics again in October and we will of course strictly adhere to the CovidSafe restrictions and guidelines.
